However, for the new season, that ticker will be a thing of the past, a move previously used for the College Football Playoff.
ESPN had previously removed the ticker during major sporting events like the NBA and NHL playoffs, but, as Front Office Sports reported, the same approach will be used across its networks for regular-season college games this year. This includes games on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC, ACC Network, ESPNU, ESPNews and the SEC Network.

“We’re always looking for ways to better serve sports fans. By removing the BottomLine during live action, we’re creating a cleaner presentation that keeps the focus where it belongs—on the field,” an ESPN spokesperson said in the statement.
The details provided by Front Office Sports explain that score alerts at specific points during games will still appear, along with updates in the top right of the screen and above the score bug.
